Integrating social media into your election is a fun and easy way to improve member participation. If your organization is anything like most of the groups that we work with, sometimes finding new and relevant content to share can be difficult. Incorporating your election into your social media strategy is beneficial because it provides relevant and engaging content to post AND helps increase voter turnout.
Election-America can work with your organization to develop a timeline for election related events. Each event or perhaps certain events in particular are worth sharing with your social audience. Keeping your members in the know is an important factor in member participation in the election.
Using social media to communicate with members in addition to your newsletter, website, or company blog is critical. Though it’s ultimately up to your organization to decide which events are “share worthy.” A call for nominations is definitely share worthy, while deadlines to submit biographical information is somewhat iffy… For every organization, there’s an appropriate balance for sharing important news items and over or under sharing. In this case, knowing your members and what information or news item they will find relevant is important.
One way Election-America helps integrate social media into your election is with digital “I Voted” stickers. Once a member has cast their vote, they can be given the option to share/tweet/pin that they voted, and encourage others to do so as well! We can even include a digital copy of the “I Voted” sticker to add some flair to the post.
